Copyright and Licensing Terms

1. Copyright Policy

Upon article acceptance, the copyright of the article is transferred to Frontiers in Preventive Medicine, published by the Public Health Young Scholars Alliance.

Authors retain significant rights to use and share their own work, as detailed in the "Author Rights" section below.

2. Licensing Policy

All articles published in Frontiers in Preventive Medicine are made freely available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

This means that anyone is free to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, including commercial use.

  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial use.

The license is granted under the following condition:

  • Attribution — You must give appropriate credit to the original work, provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 license, and indicate if any changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.

No additional restrictions may be applied that legally or technologically restrict others from doing anything the CC BY 4.0 license permits.

3. Copyright Notice

The copyright year for each article is determined by its individual publication date (i.e., the date it is formally published online).

A typical copyright notice on the PDF of an article should appear as:

“© [Year] Frontiers in Preventive Medicine. Published by the Public Health Young Scholars Alliance. This is an open-access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).”

4. Author Rights

Notwithstanding the transfer of copyright to the journal, authors are granted the following rights without requiring further permission:

  • To reuse their article, in whole or in part, in their own future works, such as books, lectures, and conference presentations.

  • To distribute copies of their published article (including via email or their institutional repository).

  • To post the final, published version of their article (PDF) on their personal website, institutional repository, or any other preferred platform, immediately upon publication.
