Author Guidelines
Thank you for choosing Frontiers in Preventive Medicine ( FPM,ISSN: 3068-3376 ) as a platform to share your research. To ensure a smooth submission, review, and publication process, we kindly ask you to read and follow the guidelines below carefully. 1. Scope of Submission FPM focuses on preventive medicine and public health with a global perspective. We welcome submissions of original research, reviews, case reports, and viewpoints that align with (but are not limited to) the following themes:
  • Epidemiology and disease prevention (e.g., infectious disease control, chronic disease intervention)
  • Health promotion and behavioral intervention (e.g., health education, lifestyle guidance)
  • Environmental and occupational health (e.g., impact of environmental pollutants, occupational protection)
  • Global health and health equity (e.g., cross-regional health resource allocation, vulnerable population health security)
  • Health policy and system research (e.g., public health policy formulation, healthcare system optimization)
  • Digital health and innovative prevention (e.g., AI in disease prediction, telehealth management)
2. Manuscript Types & Requirements 2.1 Original Research
  • Content: Present novel, rigorous research findings (including clear objectives, methods, results, and discussions).
  • Length: Typically 3,000–6,000 words (excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures).
  • Structure: Include Title, Abstract (200–300 words, with 3–5 keywords), Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References, and Author Contributions.
2.2 Review Articles
  • Content: Synthesize the latest research progress in a specific subfield, identify research gaps, and propose future directions.
  • Length: 4,000–8,000 words (excluding references and figures).
  • Requirement: Must cite recent, high-impact literature (preferably within the past 5 years) and avoid simple summaries of existing studies.
2.3 Case Reports
  • Content: Report rare or representative clinical cases related to preventive medicine (e.g., atypical disease prevention cases, successful intervention cases).
  • Length: 1,500–3,000 words.
  • Requirement: Include Case Presentation, Discussion (linking the case to broader preventive medicine implications), and Ethics Statement (if involving human subjects).
2.4 Viewpoints/Commentaries
  • Content: Express insights on hot topics, policy issues, or emerging trends in preventive medicine (supported by evidence or logical analysis).
  • Length: 1,000–2,000 words.
  • Requirement: Clear stance, concise argumentation, and no redundant background information.
3. Submission Preparation 3.1 Formatting Standards
  • Language: Manuscripts must be written in English (American or British English consistently; avoid mixing).
  • Font & Spacing: Use 12-point Times New Roman font, 1.5-line spacing, and 1-inch margins on all sides.
  • Citations & References: Follow the Vancouver Style (numerical in-text citations corresponding to a numbered reference list). Use reliable sources (e.g., peer-reviewed journals, official reports) and ensure all citations are accurate and complete.

  • Tables & Figures:

           Label tables as “Table 1, Table 2…” and figures as “Figure 1, Figure 2…” (with descriptive captions).

Ensure figures are high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi) and in editable formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF, or Excel for tables).

Avoid duplicating data between tables and text.

3.2 Ethical Compliance
  • Human/Animal Subjects: If the research involves human participants or animals, the manuscript must include:
    • A statement confirming approval by the relevant Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee (e.g., “This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of [Institution Name], Approval No. [XXX]”).
    • A statement confirming informed consent was obtained from all participants (or their legal guardians for minors).
  • Conflict of Interest (COI): All authors must complete and submit a Conflict of Interest Declaration Form. If no conflicts exist, state: “All authors declare no competing interests.”
  • Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not previously published (including in preprint servers like arXiv or bioRxiv, unless explicitly noted and updated). Simultaneous submission to other journals is strictly prohibited.
4. Submission Process 4.1 Submission Channels Choose one of the following official channels (do not submit via multiple channels):
  1. Online Submission System: Log in to the FPMJ platform (https://fpmjournal.org/) and navigate to the “FPM Submission” section to upload your manuscript and supplementary materials.
  1. Email Submission: Send the complete manuscript (as a single PDF file) and supplementary documents (e.g., COI form, IRB approval letter) to the editorial office: info@fpmjournal.org.
    • Email subject format: “FPM Submission – [Manuscript Title] – [Corresponding Author Name]”.
4.2 Required Documents
  • The complete manuscript (PDF format, with all tables/figures embedded).
  • Conflict of Interest Declaration Form (signed by all authors).
  • IRB/Ethics Committee approval letter (if applicable).
  • Permission letters (if using copyrighted materials, e.g., figures from other journals).
  • Contact information of the corresponding author (full name, affiliation, email, and phone number).
5. Peer Review Process
  • Initial Screening: The editorial office will first check if the manuscript meets FPM’s scope, format, and ethical requirements. Manuscripts that fail initial screening will be rejected without peer review.
  • Peer Review: Qualified manuscripts will be sent to 2–3 independent reviewers (experts in the relevant field). The review process typically takes 4–6 weeks.
  • Decision Notification: After reviewing reviewer comments, the editor-in-chief will make one of the following decisions:
    • Accept: No revisions needed.
    • Minor Revision: Revisions required (reviewer comments addressed; no re-review needed).
    • Major Revision: Substantial revisions required (re-review by original reviewers).
    • Reject: Manuscript does not meet FPM’s academic standards.
  • Revision Submission: Authors must respond to all reviewer comments (point-by-point) and submit revised manuscripts within the deadline specified in the decision letter.
6. Publication Fees & Rights
  • Article Processing Charge (APC): To support academic accessibility, APC is fully waived for all manuscripts submitted by December 2026. No hidden fees will be charged during submission, review, or publication.
  • Copyright: Upon acceptance, authors will sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) granting FPM the right to publish, distribute, and archive the article. Authors retain the right to use the article for non-commercial purposes (e.g., teaching, personal research).
  • Open Access: All articles published in FPM are available open access via the journal’s official platform and Crossref. Each article will be assigned a unique DOI (Digital Object Identifier) for global retrieval and citation.
7. Post-Publication Policies
  • Errata/Corrections: If errors are identified after publication, authors must notify the editorial office promptly. The journal will publish an “Erratum” or “Correction” to correct the error.
  • Retractions: Manuscripts may be retracted if they contain severe errors, plagiarism, or ethical misconduct (following guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics, COPE).
